Social commitment

The fast and continuous development of mining industry led to an important rural exodus. The rural world, peripheral to the mining centers, then experienced major land conflicts – Mbeko Shamba was no exception to this rule but was able to bring forward innovative solutions by integrating the most disadvantaged to its activity.

In 2013, Mbeko Shamba begins a program as an attempt to stop the invasion of its concession by improving the performance of small skill farmers that were, at this point, illegally settle on its land.

Today the program reaches to almost

200

families

that produce

1100

tons of maize per year

Thanks to the small skill farmers and Mbeko Shamba’s efforts together, their production was multiplied by 10 and deforestation was totally eradicated.
